Writers Cafe - Once in a while, they still come back.

A Poem by Relic

Once in a while,
as though pulled in by some desire
or force,
some decide to take a ride back
to Writers Cafe.

It's not always a long visit, yet
they still come back
as though returning to their old home.

"I remember Robbie,
or Marie, or Frieda P," they might say.

They may recall this place in a way
one might remember
flags that lined porches
or trees on each side of the street where they lived.
But still, they remember this place.
Their names are still on the mailbox.

For better or worse, this is a community.

Some have moved on, as they should.
And some are still here, pruning nouns
or mowing verbs.

Some have even died.

The street may look different.
Trees may be bigger.
And old friends may be gone for good.

But on this block,
you're never turned away
no matter how long you've been gone
or how many times you move on.

There will always be opportunities to write about
the sun, the rain, a train...

Writers Cafe
on this block, once in a while,
they still come back.

Well, one of the new ones here. So far it doesn't look like the other sites I've been on.. Wattpad and writing.com.. Grrrrrr everything is about paying for getting advertised and the a*s kissing..

Don't care for that stuff, sooo after some exploration I decided on this site

We'll see how it goes.

LOL I always pop back... this place is still like home to me:) my absence is more due to absence of brain power more than moving on LOL I have still been on medium too just not as much:/ I have pages upon pages of unfinished poems its funny had you asked me just how long it was going to take me to heal I would have never guessed it would be this long but as it turns out my psychical healing took much less time then my mental healing of which is still very much a work in progress:/ Enough about the bunny I love how you made the comparison to the café with a neighborhood street:) what a perfect analogy! Its so funny how I still feel a connection to all of you and I don't think that will ever go away in so many ways you guys have helped me in my own evolutions of write its as if you are all ghost writers when I scribble a poem

New here, but the idea of returning is interesting. In the same way, we return to old drafts to check if they are still alive and if the words we wrote years ago make sense.

This is very true. I'm not here often because most of the friends I made here are not online anymore. I miss this place very much. It was a very active community and I loved the Contests.

Every community has its joys and hardships.
We lose people and we welcome new ones.
I've seen some ugliness here but I'm seen much more beauty.
Sadly, most will remember the ugly. You are different. We need more people like you.

I appreciate your thoughts, Aluppi. Thank you.
I wish more of them would come back, some of them have been gone for so long that whatever made them leave in the first place could be different. It would just be great to have some of the old greats back again and see their writing and what has changed in the years. But hopefully, for some at least, moving on was because they became more professional than amateur and that's exciting for them. That's the great thing about it being a community, though, it can still be here to welcome new writers as it once did those who came before. I for one have a lot more nouns to prune, so if you'll excuse me.

WritersCafe really do feel like "home" to me,

A lovely way to explain it, always changing but forever welcomed.
