Deepened Wound

Deepened Wound

A Poem by Ian Caithness
"

This poem is reflective of the past; the pain, the angst and the turmoil which comes from painful, dark memories which are trapped within our unconscious state of mine. It is a battle which we must win, lest the consequences are grave.

"

The whispering trees,
The coloured grass,
The cold and darkness
Fills the air,
The dampening feeling,
The drenching rain,
My body shivers,
The darkness surrounds
Filling my cold soul,
The time runs out,
And the blade slips in.

I fall to the floor
As the blood drips down,
The water flowing
Soaking through my clothes,
The trees are darkening
Clouds are forming
Life so worthless,
The blade sinks further in.

My life falls apart
The blade deepens cuts,
The wound is bleeding
Slowly killing my soul,
Slowly breaking me down.

Author's Note

Ian Caithness
The use of dark imagery within this poem is reflective of its context and the intention. The structure is quite common but I do not often using rhyming couplets and so forth because I find it restricts the flow and the motion of the writer's hand. Feel free to comment upon the structure, the language and the technique.

The opposite of my last review, very descriptive, no vaugeness about it. To the point, and creates the emotion. Gets inside your head. I like it. :].
