Caged

Caged

A Poem by Mystique

A caged animal..
I guess that's what I am.
I'm not free to be me,
I'm not free to be anything.
Chained by the bonds of the pure..
Never to be free..
They prod me with prejudice
and jab at me with religion.
They feed me lies in which I do not take.
They have me drink the blood from hearts..
Hearts full of hope..
As I swallow all hope of freedom
I bite my tongue.
The only thing that keeps me sane,
however, is the fact that soon,
this cage will rust..
The bars will bend..
The chains will snap..
Until the beast is freed..
Freed from the wicked torture of the mind..

I LOVE this poem... I've felt caged and trapped most of my life, and it is comforting to know that no matter what cage you are in the cage itself will eventually rust. Thank you for sharing
