The Simple Rain

The Simple Rain

A Poem by IWatchSilently

I laughed as the cool water swept me off from underneath my feet
And cold, damp ground welcomed me with open arms.
The world seems so small from down low, and yet infinitely large at the same time.
Water trickeled into every inch of my being
And yet i did not mind being wet.
Something about the rain was comforting
The steady smoothness of the pitter-patter of rain drops
Like children running on a sunny day.
It was pleasing to my soul.
Mud splashed all over me,
And yet I was still clean.
I could hear the distant sound of a crow
Screaching for me to leave.
But I couldn't move.
I was hypnotized by the world.
By the beauty of simplicity.
The crow called again,
But this time I couldn't hear it.
I looked up
At the heavenly tears
That came running down the sky
Filled with dreams and wishes.
And I smiled.
I lay there on the ground,
Looking like a fool
And for the first time
I didn't care.

Beautifully done. The imagery is great and it draws you in. I can picture myself with arms wide open and head held up high, the soft rain caressing my face, thrusting me into dream land; that's i love line:
"At the heavenly tears
That came running down the sky
Filled with dreams and wishes."

Well written.

This is beautiful. I love the last four lines of this poem. You're really new at poetry? Because this is definitely an incredibly poem for a beginner. I'm so amazed at your talent.
The imagery is incredible, and I can relate so well to this poem. I love it when I can just stand in the rain and not care about looking bad or what people think of me. Because at that moment it all doesn't matter.
This is simply beautiful.
