My Flower

My Flower

A Poem by Billy Sullivant

Your smile is something beyond beautiful.
I can see the inside of you bloom.
Like a delicate flower I carefully
pick you away and plant you inside a room.
Where there is no sunlight...
No outer world. You are mine.
I believe you begin to slowly fall.
Inside, I believe you are fine.
I see how you decay and blacken.
I nest inside the evaporated vase.
I smile and break one colorful petal.
Despite what you are now, I remember your face.
