Dreams to Percept

Dreams to Percept

A Poem by Billy Sullivant

The dreams I choke on,
seem to clog the ability
to precept happiness.
Maybe it ain't for me?

The world may be broken
but it's alright, nothing new.
I'm whistling along a new prayer.
Knowing something's above the blue.

Somewhere, I know somebody.
Somewhere an angel flies.
Maybe I'm suffocating
on dreams that will not die?

your use of precept and percept is clever...and I might suggest avoiding the use of "ain't" in poems...seems to distract a bit in free verse, but fits ok in prose and other writing......or it's just me :-)

even in the dark, there's light and you allude to that here

Peace
