Defeated Wrists

Defeated Wrists

A Poem by Brandon Wile

The words resonate

If only for a moment

Passion becomes ignorance

And ignorance is bliss

Buried hope is shallow

Beyond good intentions

Force fed consequence

By our own hands

The children of destiny

Are waving white flags

With hands held high

And hearts as cold as ice

Forever longing eyes

Can't see beyond sorrow

Tired defeated wrists

Sick of waiting on tomorrow

I love your third stanza, such powerful imagery in this write. Nicely written.
