Them

Them

A Poem by Mark

We all go along with what makes sense
even with a gun pointed to our heads
while 'they' say it's all been wrong.

I've never really understood that thinking
when reality is what we want it to be,
even when it is so obviously not.

Tell us 'they' are responsible
'they' are the evil doers
and the makers of mischief.

'We' are the righteous
with everything to gain
as long as 'they' lose.

Never really understood that mission.
Felt it must be glaring light and
darkest shadow; two sides of the Moon.

I wish we could all just go on wishing
and live the days and nights
we all are so sure we deserve,
for our belief.

Who are "they?" You read my stuff it's the Republicans. Read someone else it's liberals or their parents or an X or something or some one. We need enemies to reflect our shadows on like we need heroes to do the same thing. Good poem Mark

I'm reading some religious undertones in this one. 'They' can be numerous pontificating people though, family, friends, etc. everyone always knows what's better/best for us and how we should be living it seems. Second stanza speaks volumes...'even when it's obviously not'....like a smack upside the head, yep...you nailed it. Great music too. ;-)
