Seasons of Love

Seasons of Love

A Poem by Mark
"

I've always been fascinated with beginnings, endings, cycles.

"
I could taste the reasons
in the flavor of seasons.
You ran through me
like ice in Spring.

I was the lone mountain
watching a flowing fountain.
Thirsty for love;
you made me sing.

Tangled up, two souls
sometimes make two holes
aching when cut
where we did cling.

Feeling your heart still,
the healed scars fill
the cold hollow
Winter will bring.

The circle of life flows with poignancy and romance in this one. Your metaphor is perfect. It does seem that there is physical damage (adding to the emotional damage) done to a body when a relationship ends. Well written. Lydi**

It feels like something being torn away from you yes. thanks for reading.
I love how you brought the seasons into it. Love can drill so deep, entwine and bind us up. We are full of scar tissue. This is neatly done in few words. You know how much I like that skill, Mark. Angi~

Yes dear friend. You and I are of like minds in that regard! :)
I love how you used the seasons in this piece. The rhyming really helped the poem flow from one season to the next.

My pleasure :)
Such melancholy thoughts... love can be intricate in it's cycle, but truly worth it.
Nice meter and rhyme... Wonderfully penned!

i really see this as hopeful ...at the end i feel this speaker has finally found a love to cling to...one that makes him no longer feel like the lone mountain.

this is a beautiful piece...your rhyme is natural...because i am not a fan of it either, but i am a fan of this poem.

born in New Hampshire? ah yes...i spent so many summers as a kid in Ryegate Vt across the river from Woodsville, NH...

Generally, I like it. Makes me feel a myriad of conflicting emotions. Though I'm not overly fond of rhyming poems these days, I think it worked well with your piece. Bravo. :)
