Christmas Preparations

Christmas Preparations

A Poem by Catherine Frain

Oh no, just hours till Christmas!
Gifts still need to be wrapped.

Lights delicately put up,
Illuminating perfectly decorated trees.
Ornaments hanging with shine.

Cookies are placed in the oven,
Vanilla scent spreading.
A glass waits for the milk.

Stocking are stuffed,
Hanging carefully,

As to not spill and
Spoil the surprise.

Presents are placed under the tree,
Wrapping paper mirroring the lights.

Christmas Eve comes at long last.
Santa comes down the chimney,
With a might ho-ho-ho.

Placing his gifts for well-behaved children,
Underneath the tree among the other presents.

He takes the cookies so beautifully decorated.
Smiling, he retreats to his sleigh,
With a "Merry Christmas to all."

Christmas Day comes
And excited squeals are heard.
Smiles all around,
For the perfect family holiday.
