Snowy Days

Snow falls in waves, across the bare hills.

Dunes are created from the snow-

creating a snowy beach.

Screams of joy and excitement-

can be heard from many miles away.

Paths are created in the snow-

sled tracks and footsteps

deep in the snowy depths.

The snow sparkles in the sunlight-

a sight to see.

A pond is barely seen in the distance-

the frozen water shining

as the sunlight shines upon it.

Small distant figures skate

upon the smooth surface,

two girls- hair pulled into ponytails,

hidden under hats.

One going in figure eight-

the other in circles.

A single, lonely figure

was along the bank of the pond-

watching her sisters with

a bright-eyed expression.

The girl on the shore shouted,
“A beat down for le pain!”

The eldest of them all called out,

“I always win le pain!”

The youngest lay upon the ice and said,

“It’s not fair Scarlett!”

Snow falls upon the heads of these girls-

creating an air of fun and mischief.

The three girls left the pond-

and went up to their house,

a grand house in their eyes.

Inside they went, to escape the winter’s harsh cold.

Gathered around the fireplace,

mugs of hot chocolate with those little marshmallows,

were placed in the hands of the cold girls.
