The Contemplation of Expression

The Contemplation of Expression

A Poem by hannahspelledbackwards

The gift of expression is so beautiful
and yet so intimidating.
One must show others how one feels deeply,
either for something or for another.
However, when the expression has made a sharp turn
towards the topic of love,
it then becomes something to be shunned from.

Why?

Why is it so hard to express one's deep feelings for another?
Is it out of fear?
That one possible outcome could lead to rejection?
Or is it out of selfish love?
Isn't love about wanting to do anything for the other person,
of knowing that you would do whatever it takes to make them happy?
Why do we feel the need to make ourselves happy,
instead of the person we "love"?

Expression is one of the most beautiful gifts our Creator has given to us.
And yet we use it selfishly.
If only we had the courage and strength to express
something so amazing and wonderful
that is beyond our human minds,
and becomes superhuman and super natural
that only the two people could understand?

The expression to be able to share one's true thoughts and wishes,
to show how much care and love has been built inside them
for all this time.
That kind of expression is one that I wish to unfold one day.
