A fanatical pluviophile

A fanatical pluviophile

A Poem by Fatima
"

It solely holds me together...

"
Drips that steal our minds,
the fragrance that devours our souls,
thunder and we feel a strike,
drizzles till we see the sun,

showers bringing a calm seclusion,
we hear the patters on the tree tops
smiles mould and the fears set free , as it
drizzles till we see the sun

drops form. the hearts' sing loud
drips fall. the dance commences,
our hearts drop to the petrichor, and it
drizzles till we see the sun

some feel the beats against them
others just soak to the running and screaming
but here i stand all alone falling in love,
with the heart of the rain.

This is the poster child for SHOW instead of tell (the first rule of good writing). You create a sprinkling thundering drizzling popping enthusiastic show of the word "pluviophile" (which I had to google & I love it, such a perfect word!) You use dynamic verbs with lots of sizzle to make this scene very alive & playful. I miss rain so much . . . here in California, it seems to be all fire & no rain anymore! *sigh!* Thanks for sharing something I miss & you did it so I can actually feel it! *smile* Fondly, Margie

There are things that humans are naturally drawn to such as fire, helping others, rain, the universe etc etc. The rain is very seductive. It can be a light drizzle or painful hail. The smell before and after is a strong perfume. The life it gives after rain is what makes the Earth the way it is. I feel the love you feel because we all have the same love for the rain. As we are all pluviophiles.

Much Love

Was my pleasure and you are welcome Fatima.
The last two lines are beautiful: "but here i stand all alone falling in love, / with the heart of the rain." It is so natural to read and flows very well.

Thank you so much wredit :)
I love how this poem evokes a strong sense of fantasy (my favorite genre) with all the personifying elements. It's a wonderful daydream that just leaves you drifting in feeling and senses. It's a lovely poem.

Stand in a downpour feel and hearing and seeing the drops of water over your body makes you feel alive. Loved the way you expressed yourself in this visionary poem.
