The only Step Left Is Right.A Chapter by Irahbrownchapter 2 if you didn't get that by the order. same as the first simply continuing. As the two make their way to the colony they run past a few trees and Yoru is amazed to see a highly developed city. It has roads and electric signs. All the things you would find in a downtown area. Though there are no cars of any sort. Though now that he stops to think about it would make sense. Vampires can run over 30 miles and hour anyway. Small distance travel across the city would not need a car. As well as getting a car out here through the thick woulds would have been impossible. She leads him to a great door that opens as she signals them. Two men with glowing yellow eyes at the top eye down Yoru. He glars back but is forced along before he could start any trouble. Once inside the city he finds out that this truly was a massive mission. There was a full on city of at least several hundred Vampire around. He begin to wonder how he was going to kill them all. This was far more developed than the mission description said. This was supposed to be the start of a small colony, not the largest most developed one ever seen by human eyes. Well half human anyway. Yoru finds himself feeling rather.........natural in this new enviroment. Despite being a mage no one in the entire colony gave him a second look. Well no second looks other than the ones he was getting by being led by the daughter of the leader here. People seem to move out of her way, as if they were fearful of what would happen otherwise. As they got deeper into the colony Yoru also noticed fear in them. Many were to afraid to get close. Not of her, but as if she had some sort of disease that they could catch if they got to close to her. The girl hardly seem to notice. Yoru wonders if this and the incident in the forest were connected. He had no time to dwell on the manor as he is dragged into the upper part of the city. There it was much cleaner and less.....dumpish. The lower parts reminded him of the downtown area. The upper section here reminded him of the "nice part of town". He noticed the stench of death was not here. "So tell me.....why the difference between the two places?" She again lets out a sight and looks back at him. She is walking with her arms crossed behind her back and with a roll step meaning she seems to be at ease "You really don't know anything? What colony are you from?" "No colony" Turns in disbelief. "Really? Where did you come from? I mean...how have you survived and stuff?" "On my own. First time meeting other vampires........well other than my father. But I would rather wish to forget that" He looks down at the horrid memory of his father and the short time he was forced to spend with him as a child. Victoria senses his mood and predicts pretty accuratly that he must not have had the best childhood. "Yes many of the vampires don't really treat their children well. But that is what my father is trying to change. Living on your own must have been tough. I don't know what I would have done without Fater. Well my father is the leader here. He wants to create a society where humans and Vampires can live together. Its a good dream and I share that dream. The lower part are those that don't really accept Fathers way of thinking, while those that do accept it live up here. He is in charge but there are many people that would like to take his life. So he has to be on constant alert. Anyhow the reason it stinks of death is because many of the people down there break the rules and bring in humans to feed on directly. We don't allow that. Donated blood works just as good for us and there is no need to kill humans. If we can get rid of our violence like that then we won't have to be hunted. We are living creatures so why don't we get to live and feed? Well without killing of course. Normal humans don't stand a chance against us, but some of the powerful mages do. Recently we have been getting more and more requests to be taken down. Though no one knows how serious our force is here. Only an insane human would try to take us out here. Though some are bound to try." She shrugs as her little speach is over. Yoru seems to be putting the pieces together. There is a large colony of Vampires. One far larger than ever recorded in the past two hundred years. But the leader is a man who believes in peace with humans. Though there are several that dissagree with him. Thus his daugter is targeted. Yoru himself is the first mage to make it here because of a misunderstanding. He is a half vampire and lately his blood as been acting up so everyone is assuming that he is a vampire just like them. Also when he was doing his clean up duty by taking down the first violent vampires he found, he in turn gained the unwaviering trust of the ignorant princess of this minature kingdom. She is currently taking Yoru to meet her father and the man in charge of the whole operation. Dozens of plans start to form in his head as they climb the black marble stairs to the highest building. But he can't seem to shake the feeling of belonging here. Its almost overwhelming. He has never found it easy to walk and talk with people, but here.....its just natural. Perhaps this is a home that he has been able to find. NO!. he shakes his head and tries to focus on fairy tail, and his mission. She turns and looks at him curoiusly before turning back with a giggle. "Almost there." She runs up the last remaing steps skipping a few dozen every step or so. They reach great black doors with golden door knockers. She quickly goes up and grabs one. For such a tiny girl to easily open a massive marble door slightly shocked yoru for a moment, then he remembered that he is in the middle of a massive vampire den that if they find out his true identity will tear him to shreds. He reutns that thought to the back of his head and walks in after her trying to show no fear As he walks in He finds the chamber to be quite massive on the inside. There is a great hall and blazing torches along not only the wall but the dome ceiling as well. The architecture reminds him very much of an old european church. Like the steps the floor is made of shiny black marble. It seems to be placed in squares around the floor. The pillars are white or striped and extend very high into the air. In the center of the room lays a long red carpet that stretches at least 100 meters. As he and Victoria walk along that carpet he can see what awaits at the other end. A large number of esteemed looking vampire stand in a half circle around a man on a large red throne. The knightly men and women all wear great black and gold cloaks while the man in the center is garnished with the same sort of attire, but has a large read cape and golden crown. He looks very much like a king, though his demanor would make him seem as if he belonged to a slightly more humble position. He is an elderly man with greyish white beared and long hair. His skin is very pale and looks as if it has seen their better days. His crystal blue eyes light up when he sees Victoria and he stands up quickly with open arms. Victoria seeing this rushes up the red carpet full speed, and with a great bound leaps the last half of the distance to land in his arms. "Victoria! Where have you been?" He pats her head while laughing a joyous laugh. The scene feels very light hearted. Not at all what one might expect from her just having her life threatended. Though maybe that is normal for vampire culture. He really isn't quite sure. "I was just on a walk daddy" "A walk?" "Yeah. I did find some trouble but i found this man here" Motioning to yoru* "He's really strong. He took down like five baddies in like 10 seconds" The father looks up to meet yoru's gaze. There are three emotions that cross his face. Well to be honest they never crossed his face. It was under the skin. Most people would not have seen it, but Yoru is constantly analyzing him. Underneath his perfect mask of a face he saw shock. Then right after worry, finnaly something that looked like realization. He looks back down at his daughter and pats her on the head. "How many times do I have to tell you not to go out like that? You worry your father. Now off to your studies. And to make sure that you get them all done, everyone will be escorting you" She looks up at him with a fake pout but kisses him on the cheek before skipping off out of the room. The 10 guards that were there leave with her after a quick nod from the king like figure. Something in the man's gaze told Yoru to stay put. He knew rather quickly that he wanted to see him alone. It was only a few seconds before everone was out of the room, leaving only Yoru and the man. The atmosphere suddenly chages as he looses his smile and goes to stand at he base of his throne. "Who are you? You are a mage correct?" Yoru doesn't answer at first, but feels there is no longer any point to lying. He still has a good grip on his scythe as he holds it at the ready. The man however just sits on his throne. Suddenly there is a powerful jolt through Yoru's body. It felt like a hard kick in the back of the head but there was no physical attack. He looks up at him as he feels his brain go half asleep. "Confused? should be. This is one of the most basic vampire magic attacks. Its and instant hypnotic that knocks out the prey and allows the user to do whatever he feels necessary to them. We developed it to add to our feeding skills. With it you don't have to harm or kill the person you are feeding on. Rather useful no?" Yoru breaks free finnaly of the half asleep sort of feeling. He notices he is panting slightly. He gives the leader a fierce gaze. "Who are you? I"ll ask that once more. You are obviously a half breed. And you remind me of someone. Someone I hope it is simply a coenciedence. Tell me what your purpose is here" There is a moment of silence. Yoru see's he does not stand a chance. But if he is to die here, It will be with honor. "I am Yoru. Yoru Tenchi. I am A mage of Fairy Tail and I have taken the mission to destroy the developing vampire colony" The man winces at the name tenchi. "Really now. And you, as a carrier of the blood of the aincent Lamia running through your viends are okay with destroying what little happness we can attain? Have you ever even talked with other vampries? From what I can tell you were raised by humans no?" "The only other vampire i've ever met was my father. Akuchi Tenchi. That is the man I want to kill more than any other. Thats a fact. If you kill me here that will be my only regret." Yoru's glare is striat forward and strong. He does not falter and is ready for death if that is what it will come to. His life has never held much value for himself. His family is gone, he has walls he cannot let down for friends. He has no one for the most part. There is no reason for him to live any longer if he cannot complete his missions. But that does not mean he will go down without a fight. He grips his scythe tightly with both hands as he widens his stance. The man simply sighs. Standing up he walks toward Yoru. Once he reaches a few feet in front of him he looks up at him square in the eye. "I am Alexander. Pleased to meet you..Yoru Tenchi. You don't fear death....but that is not a good thing. You have much to learn. You severly misunderstand our culture. Why not stay a while. I'd like for you to learn our ways. The old Lamian language, some basic techniques. Things like that. You got a good bloodline. Its strong. No on will even be able to tell you are a Daimfur, or half breed. Take your time and enjoy your time here. Dying won't help anythig on either side. You know....I knew your father. A demon of a man If i ever saw one. I am sorry that you had to go through whatever it was that you went through. I don't blame your blood though. Blood may be in your heart, but thats not what is "in your heart", if you are able to understand me. That was one of your grandfathers phrases. Your grandfather was a man I respected and a good personal friend of mine. He had the guts to do something i never would have. Actually go work with humans on their territory. Make due with things like that. Be subject to ridicule by both sides. It really was difficult for him. Now I am expecting great things out of you." Alexander pats Yoru on the shoulder and then walks back to his throne to sit down and sleep. Two other men stand on either side of Yoru and grab onto his elbows and lead him out. Just outside the doors Victoria is waiting with a smile on her face. She looks different when she is cheerful. Her whole complexion changes and the entire room seems to light up. She runs up and grabs his hand again and starts to forcefully pull him off in a random direction. He is very confused. "Come on! I get to forget studying so long as I can teach you. You might be an Idiot but it sure beats having to study myself." She giggles excitedly the whole way as He doesn't put up much of a fight as he is dragged away.
