Song of a Martyr

Song of a Martyr

A Poem by Iris

O survivors do not grieve

And stay firm

In what you believe

For we may have left you,

Without goodbyes and

Teary partings, true,

But this is not farewell my friend,

For our journey did not yet end,

We may have passed away

With shattered dreams and broken promises

Pick up the shards, you will fix them someday

Your life lies ahead brilliant and shining

Why make it a prison, harsh and confining?

We may have been brutally slain

We may have been silent,

Maybe crying in pain

But soon when the battle shall undoubtedly cease

You will find, in our silent hearts, eternal peace

For no doubt, at the end of the day

This was our fate

So thank God and pray

And each night when you look up at the moon

Remember we will unite, very, very soon

If you just read the yellow words, it is a beautiful poem in itself.

But this is not farewell my friend,
For our journey did not yet end,
Your life lies ahead brilliant and shining
Why make it a prison, harsh and confining?
But soon when the battle shall undoubtedly cease
You will find, in our silent hearts, eternal peace
And each night when you look up at the moon
Remember we will unite, very, very soon

Thank you so much. I appreciate this "reviewing lark". :)
Iris: I love your poem! It is phenomenal and heart warming. It is packed like one of my suitcases, overflowing always, but the difference is every word in this composition is necessary and perfect placed, used unlike my clothing. You are so very talented, I am smiling thinking of loved ones I have lost, hoping also many others will read this for I have certain, they will be inspired to continue on with life, knowing one day they will see their loved ones again. I could NEVER write a poem like this. Deep, raw and emotional. Thank you so much. Please write more! Dale
