Never Again

Never Again

A Poem by Rebecca Isherwood

Cold alone & lonely

Secluded & deluded

Crazy for one last kiss

From someone I dearly miss

Frozen stiff with fear

Afraid to go out on a limb

To lose my heart again

To be forgotten, even by a friend

The unforgiving bitter memory

Shattered, bruised, broken

Like crushed ice made of flesh

Tears trickle down my breasts

Try to hold it all inside

Sharp pains break me down

Bring me to my knees

Where I beg and plea

With what strength I can muster

I fight off the waves

Depression tries to devour

Turning all my words, my world, sour

Perspective warped my perception

Tainted, darkened, gritty visions

Views of a once beautiful place

Sadness stretched across a sunken, sullen face.

No light save for the brutal sun

As it pierces my eyelids, unwelcome

Start of the same old routine again

Never to find the unhappiness end

Rebecca Isherwood
I know it seems a little melodramatic, but what is poetry if not expression?
