Where I’m from

Where I’m from

A Poem by Island Hippy

reggae island style
be the jam
where I’m from

ukulele tunes
sway them hips
where I’m from

shaka means
hang loose
where I’m from

bare feet ‘n flip flops
be the kicks
where I’m from

sand and shoes
never meet
where I’m from

spilling hip hop
jazzy blues
where I’m from

b-ball with
homies at the park
where I’m from

surf runs
through my veins
where I’m from

mother is aina
beating heart
where I’m from

where my soul
meets the earth
where I’m from

lighter shade of brown
be the wears
where I’m from

aloha
is life
where I’m from

so where you from?

You’ve injected a bountiful helping of pizazz as you show us where you’re from. You’ve selected a great assortment of details to share, voicing each with a seeming bohemian flair. I use a country vernacular sometimes & this reminds me of that carefree jiving way of bouncy talkin’ – except different cuz it’s your style not mine! *smile* One feels yours are words of welcome, as well as introduction. I’m from my own current location, the coastal mountains of middle-California, something that infuses my mood & message, as does yours! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

We must live and enjoy life. Mahalo my friend.
Thank you Izzy for this lesson on your culture which sounds quite idyllic and has me feeling a little envious other than for your inclement weathers. Sounds laid back and wonderful laid out in proud stanzas.
