A re-post from my dA account (Eldemorrian) This was a poem for Creative Writing class, and we were tasked to write a one-sentence piece. A poem about obsession is what I thought up.

Gripped by obsession's claws, I fought and screamed,
yet it tightened its hold like a snake with its prey,
its venom seeping through the blood and bone,
making it nigh impossible to pull away

for poison has spread, no chance to mend,
since the damage is done and not a cure is in sight;
none could heal the mind, or convince the soul
to part the heart from its most treasured light.
