His Rose

His Rose

A Poem by Elizabeth
"

I wrote this today because of a gift I recieved from my significant other.

"

I am gazing at you,

you long stemmed beauty,

you red, red rose.

When the gardener found you,

did he say, "This one is perfect. The petals

spread out, and leaves turned down just so"?

Did the florist exclaim, "What beauty!

What color! A trim cloak of fern for you, just so"?

When my lover chose you, did he

see your red lips, your enticing nature?

Your regal cloak of fern gracing your face?

And when I saw your beauty, was it

envy? When I placed you in crystal and

fed you from dew? Was it envy, I wonder?

For one so perfect, just so.

This really isn't that great and was spur of the moment. It might seem a little amateur but let me know what you think anyway.

I like it. I've never read something that makes you think of something so simple as the story behind a rose. Thanks for sharing
