Oh Lord, Please Bring Me Home...

Oh Lord, Please Bring Me Home...

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

Times are tough
the feds take'n away the family farm
suffering the loss of her
no longer finding
the diamond in the rough

Oh Lord, please bring me home
bring me to you
your help is all I want
just to have a grip upon things

The long, cold highway
becomes my home
along with hundreds of others like me
with nowhere to go
no one to hold on to

Sanity is what I pray for
an honest life is my goal
with just enough change to make the next toll

Oh Lord, please bring me home
to where you are
all she was, was my reason
now I'm just moving along
with another song
on my old radio

A town here and there
the same thing, but another place
the same one, just another face
nowhere seems like forever

I've got nothing to lose
nothing to gain
nothing to prove
with relentless pain

Oh Lord, Please bring me home...

A very sad poem. Remind me of the old songs from the depression. People with concern and not knowing what to do. I like the flow of the poem and the strong ending. Had to find peace in life sometimes. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Love the ending...I've got nothing to lose
nothing to gain
nothing to prove
with relentless pain.

Beautiful writing.
