The North Star

The North Star

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

What's significant
about a small dot in the sky?...

It's so far away
light years I am told...

So many claim
it never moves...

Her spirit comes alive
within the star
its light
reminds me of her heart

A sparkle
that I used to fancy
the same sparkle
I still see at night
when I gaze up
into the sky
at the North Star

Many have been led
to freedom by the same star
as she has delivered me

Every night
I look up to her
as she stares down upon me
and thank God that I still have her.

Luna has many children...her greatest gift to us is that she helps us gaze upon each twinkle we aspire to touch. Some form those Mythical loves we tossed up into the darkness...others are the magical loved ones we had the pleasure to share for that one brief moment in time as they resided on the Mother Earth. Some given the name of that cherished being who stole our hearts once upon a time. Never to fade from sight... once in awhile they play hide n' seek as Luna's children tend to do from time to time. (I love gazing on those sparkles that enchant the heart and bind the soul :) Once again I'm swept away within your words...as your choice of topic pulls my wishes to grab in the fanciful ... while all the while touches that which craves inside a belief that each star beats for the one who is held by the spell they cast each night. :)

I agree about how this piece can really make you lost in a way.
