God I Need You Now

God I Need You Now

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

God, I need you
I need you right now
I need your help once again
I'm trying so hard,
but I'm not getting anywhere

I admit I can't go on alone
there's a large stone in my way
I can't move it alone
please help me to move it away

God, I need you now
I can't keep from weeping
the stress and insecurity
severely consumes me
I'm trying so hard

A sea I have to cross
with only a raft

My faith is dwindling
when I'm holding on
when it seems impossible
but you can do anything
there is nothing to stop you

God, there's a barrier
I'm having trouble
I constantly stumble
my strength is dwindling
You provide my strength
You are my carrier

God, I need you now
I can't keep from weeping
the stress and insecurity
severely consumes me
I'm trying so hard

You remind me of the my moments of despairing. When all I could see around me was a deep hole I'd dug for myself. I waited a long time for someone to drop a rope down and pull me up. It's been true for me that, in those moments of deepest despair, after I'd wept my last tear, God reached down and comforted me.

You're honest and raw. You have a voice that speaks for a lot of people. Be careful about needless repetition ("dwindling, stone and barrier"). You can condense this into a few powerful stanzas by carefully placing your repetition and weeding out some redundancy.

Your work is good, but I think it can be great.

Lovely poem. Truly from the heart.
Something which even I needed at a moment. Sometimes we just feel so vulnerable and in that moment only God can help us.

Everyday is struggle. The weight of the world on your back and the constant beat down leaves the mortal soul feeling defeated. I'm right there with you brother. Happy writing!

I understand this poem. I do a similar prayer daily. No-one can do it alone. Thank you for sharing your amazing poetry. Always a pleasure to read your work.

This is a nice prayer like poem, we can't do it on our own only God can help us through. I find it when I am at my lowest and I feel I have no more strength to move forward I say a prayer similar to this to remind me that I am not suppose to do it alone, God is always there to help me, and I am so thankful for that.

Good Job
