Heart's Death

Heart's Death

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

Thump... Thump..... Thump............... (Flat line)

I once heard my heart beat
I once felt my heart jump
I once felt my heart crumble
I now have a dead heart

I once loved a girl
Beautiful, crazy, amazing.
She was part of my world,
Now she's lost forever

Only three months ago
When my love was betrayed
By my own being
Manipulated, I pushed her away

I felt my heart break
To millions of pieces
Felt it die while it lived
What's there now???

I once heard my heart beat
I once felt my heart jump
I once felt my heart crumble
I now have a dead heart

Memories were hurricanes
Relentless, powerful, merciless
Endless rain of tears
Endless wind of cries
Endless destruction of pain

My heart aches from the storm
No shelter, no escape, no refuge

Oh her memory is so painful
Yet it's so pleasing
Why can't I let her go?

I cared, I loved, I left
Nothing I do will change it
She's never coming back

I once felt my heart beat
I once felt my heart leap
I once felt my heart break
I once felt my heart die.

The poem took the reader on a sad journey. It is a lonely death with the heart. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
