Blood-Curdling To See!

My Most Scary Halloween!

 

 

 

 

 

An orange moon, a pitch black sky

a child of only four was I,

and as the bad witch of the west

for trick-or-treating I was dressed.

 

A gruesome mask, a pointed hat

a flowing robe, a screeching cat,

I was ready and excited.

Halloween, I was delighted!

 

My Dad and I walked down the street

and, happy, I saw friends to greet.

Nothing rattling, nothing macabre,

kids in creepy get-ups I saw.

 

On a corner ghosts were eating,

on slimy worms they were feasting.

With drooling mouths they laughed out loud

and of their antics they were proud.

 

Suddenly, so horrifying!

I felt abandoned, I was crying.

Standing nearby, dressed just like me,

a wicked witch, blood-curdling to see!

Halloween can be so scary to young children. We love the fun, games, treats, and dress up. However, the little ones can be quite terrified!

Yes, children are so vulnerable when they're very young. I can remember trick-or-treating in an apartment building whose residents had put a bloody head on a table in the atrium and they were all standing around laughing at the scared looks on the kids' faces. Talk about sick! That's another Halloween I will never forget. Thanks for your insightful review, I appreciate your thoughts very much.

Seems quite a few witches live lonely lives in old houses and kids are always scared to walk by those houses when it gets dark. Thanks for reading my poem and leaving your thoughts behind, Ron.

For some, that time never goes away. Why else are horror movies (which I don't like at all) so popular? And how about amusement (?) parks. I find those rides terrifying. Maybe I was traumatized by seeing that scary witch. Thanks for reading my poem and leaving your insightful comment behind, rutherford.

It was all going so well until you saw the wicked witch ! Some memories never fade... scary ones especially!
