Jayce Ackerman has been in the shadows all of her life. She is always being compared to her brother and is always being told what to do by her abusive boyfriend. Jayce never knew how to emerge into the sunlight until she met the newest kid in her small town of Alice Acres, Texas: Mason Kingston.

Mason Kingston lived in the big city of Jacksonville, Florida, until he got sent to live with his aunt in Alice Acres. It was a big transition for him, moving from the city to the country. But when Mason met Jayce, he knew that she needed help.

The two became friends very quickly, but after a few close calls with death and a few fights, it's up to one of them to put a stop to it all.
