This is a pleasant stimulation of the erotic senses from the alluring title, captivating image, and purple font. Lavender tends to invoke calmness and serenity. It has been known to arouse men yet calm women. The writer displays attention to detail.
CONTENT AND FORMAT
The Whitman reference caught my eye because I adore Walt Whitman's poetry; it is sensual and you can read it as a stand alone by the sections on any page. As the title suggests, "Intellectual Sex" is seductive to females since we tend to romanticize sex. In contrast, men are visual and physical. Therefore, they court their ladies by means of impressing them with literature. Professors are notorious for this behavior. I think we can all agree that we have had sexual fantasies about our teachers.
I imagined the speaker as a female; an intelligent tease of a woman. She strikes me as a sensual being yet classy. The tone of poem comes off as classical but there are moments of blunt sexual details such as "fingers slip inside." The writer the does not hide behind figurative language but rather enhances it, creating a sensory overload.
PERSONAL CONNECTIONS
I adore erotica personally. It gives me a break from other intense reading material since I am diverse. Frankly, I want to read more erotica now instead of some serious work I was reading. I will certainly be keeping an eye on your writing.
Most of the time an intellectual or emotional connection is a more intimate encounter than a physical one, and this hits that strait on. To think that you can make that interaction with someone as she is sitting beside someone else is even more of a , dare I say, intrusion? I liked how you laid out the mental game over the physical one. They have a lot in common.
A delicious mind f**k! Excuse the crude term.
This is gritty write that paints the image of what it is to truly connect with a person it has very little to do with the physical act, the contrasting notions enhance the mood and create atmosphere.
A sensual insightful piece. I enjoyed this very much.
Absolutely ....brilliant.
I adore the very thought, of touching the unseen.
Diving into the very depths. Embracing every crevice and fiber of the heart and mind.
I really loved the juxtaposition of sexual desire and a deep craving to actually get to know the person "you" in this poem. The language was seductive yet sincere and thought-provoking. One slight critique- I like your usage of punctuation but aesthetically I don't like the fact that each individual line is capitalized whether or not the line before it ended in a period.
This was absolutely breathtaking and so relatable. Your descriptive words captured the emotion so perfectly I was forever to place myself in these shoes. Mesmerizing .
Oh my, I REALLY like this. It's so unique, thought-provoking, imaginative, well-written... I love it not only because I relate to it so much, but also because the idea of "intelligent sex" is vastly unexplored, yet I feel like it happens all the time, finding that connection, falling in love with the soul or mind; love isn't just physical... there are many different kinds...
I especially like the last 2 stanzas. "My fingers reach inside/rubbing your fears/touching your dirty thoughts/kissing your memories" really stands out and touched my heart like no other words have in a while. GREAT job, I'm really impressed. :)
