Stepping to Me

A poem for someone special

You have been clear about where you stand

This is definitely not something that was planned

I know the chances might seem bleak

But right now you are the one I seek

You may be standing in one specific place

But that will not stop my determined chase

Your feet are not encased in concrete

So while I try to increase your heartbeat

A step I want to help you take

One that I hope you will make

So we can continue this journey together

And you are no longer tethered

I believe that you want the same

I know it sounds kind of lame

But I feel you love me

As much as I love you

You don’t have to tell me

But I will make this plea

If you give us a chance

You will enjoy the dance

Until that magical day

I hope you baby step my way
