Restricted Lives

Restricted Lives

A Poem by Jackie Mckeen

Dont let anyone see the tears is what he lived by
He viewed them as something that made him a weaker guy
What he really needed to do was let down that wall of pride
To just let everything out that hes kept deep inside

All this little girl has known is stabbing pain
You look into her eyes and you see an ever darkening stain
She needs someone to show her love and free her screaming mind
someone to whisper I love you and show her the state of being kind

A teenage boy is in need of more because hes addicted
hes been using the drugs so much what he does is restricted
He holds back so much anger when he needs to let go and forgive
If you asked him he'd say this is nothing like the life he wants to live

A sad teenage girl is rejected yet again in the cold night
Her hazel eyes have lost that spark that made her face light
A tear falls and breaks like glass as she sits in another guys sweater
Does she not realize she's beautiful the way she is, she deserves better

A man is haunted by lonliness wishing for that one chance
To show a special woman who he really was and share that romance
His heart cries out but his mouth does not say anything
All he wants is love so the hurt wont be such a lingering sting

A gorgeous woman just wants to be happy in her own skin
A constant fight with the mirror, shes never going to win
No one shows her respect, leaving her on an emotional crutch
She needs a sister, friend or man to show her that special touch
