An Ocean In Her Eye

An Ocean In Her Eye

A Poem by Jacky Bones

Your eyes are a vast sea
That I catch myself
Drifting in for days
Until I find a way
To hear the waves through those shell nails
But I’ll still lay my head beneath
Your palms
These shallow lungs burst to sing you a song
And I’ll keep singing you these songs
If you keep believing
Yeah I said I’ll keep singing
Only if you still believe in love
Your words are a cool nights breeze
That gently puts me to sleep
And I’d give it all up
Just to lay here and freeze
Are my words enough
To keep you warm
If not I could be your blanket
Or maybe a sweater
Even an umbrella if the rain were to hit
Someone you know but hardly met
But I know her
She is the light inside
And I am the poison on your cheek
The gentleman's ghost and a nights sleep
Her nose next to mine
She passes by
In the moment of a lifetime
She begins to blink
And I
I am forever drifting in her eyes

You can tell a story. The poem is amazing. Easy to get lost in the eyes of a woman. If she desired. She can create great joy or leave you in great mystery.

So many strong lines. A outstanding poem. I like the ending. Thank you.
