Skipping Stones

Skipping Stones

A Poem by Jacky Bones
"

If you can love, you were born on time.

"
It's just like me to make
the worst out of the best
After closing doors, an smashing windows
I'll take a rest
To breathe this breath Back into you
(To breathe into you)

Holding this stone, I'll rewrite my date
Please forgive me, all children make mistakes
We'll let the wind grow
I'll throw this raspy voice
To the back of a sinking ship
like I didn't know
I hadn't had a choice
Catch the drifting rain
And choke it till it bleeds
  In this clenching fist
 Dance of shadows
Butterflies and Moths
Before the end, another blank page
Before that, words laying face down in the street
These Endless days are lost
Playing tricks on our eyes
Praying, prying to get inside

It's just like me to make
These days Descend
After crossing fingers, an cutting promises
I'll tell a friend
So I can bleed this ink out of me
(bleed this out of me)

I wanna hear your voice
Crashing with the waves
And I know this
More every f*****g day
A candle light separates this great divide
These walls were bigger
Than love
These angels were anxious
  And crashed in the corners
Black spirits were embracive
Through my smile, A kink in the jaw
Another mile, A kick to the spider web
Porcelain heart, cracking my ribs
You waited by the side of the sea
for me, my lover, for me to return
 You rooted to the ground
The clouds rolled over you
And you didn't make a sound
    And I couldn't change a thing
    besides cage this violent breeze
And unleash it on my rescue ship

It's just like me to make
  Everything go wrong
     And I've waited so long
Its time to forgive myself
     And make it right
Before I lay flowers at your stone tonight
