Come Clean

Come Clean

A Poem by Jagged Jay
"

An honest look at myself

"

Like I am naked, I've undressed from my faux attire

I've taken off the costume, I quit the charade,

No need to continue this masquerade,

Life is not so complicated and it makes me feel elated

I've been veracious and not so pretentious,

No longer do I have to maintain the front I've feigned,

I have come clean,

I have been sincere and a sense of serenity now appears,

The closet locked my fear of being slightly queer,

No need to creep, no need to sneak,

The discrete has spread into an obtuse truth to myself

And to everyone who knew of my prior use,

This truth has boosted my courage, my strength

It loosened the lies accumulating in my private stoorage,

So now I am nude with things to do

I have only myself to prove that I chose to end the abuse,

To be confused, beatened and bruised is a choice I refuse

There are several angles that one could approach this work through, as they catch tidbits here and there. One catches various truths revealed, while the piece maintains the overall escape from the plastic reality that so many cling to for one reason or another.
