Dear Heart

Dear Heart

A Poem by Phoenix

Please give me some time

let me take a breath or two

please let me unwind.

You beat too fast

too hard too strong

you ache and you pine,

please give me some time.

Let me see the world

with unclouded eyes

let me think and feel

without all your cries.

You’re hungry and tired

you bleed and you break

you’re starving and wild.

I know this, I know this….

please put it aside, just for a while

please give me some time…

How you rake so hard at my mind

how you make love so hard to find,

oh dear heart please give me some time.

I really, really enjoyed this. My only niggle is this ... the poem is written as if you believe that the end of a line indicates a pause in a poem. This is not the case. You have used punctuation in places, but you appear to believe that the end of a line implies a pause. This poem has amazing feeling and will be one of the best that I have read recently if the appropriate punctuation is added to line ends.

Otherwise ... it is absolutely fabulous.

I have so many ideas and feelings, and they usually buzz around inside me wildly. When I can gather up enough of them, then a piece of writing emerges and I feel refreshed. more..
