This is the end

 

Everything is ending.

Our time has come to a close.

It's time for us to give in and pass on.

 

This is the end

 

But what is the end?

Is it when we run out of things to do?

Is it when we finally achieve all our goals?

Perhaps it's when the buzzer runs down to zero?

 

But it can't be any of these,

Since none of these conditions has been met.

Maybe it's just our chance to let a new force rise.

Maybe it's our time to give over control to a new generation.

 

 

This is the end.

But does that really mean we're done?

Very nice, though confusing at first. What is ending? I like the way you answered questions with questions a lot. That's my favorite thing to do in deep and thoughtful poems.
