Universal

Universal

A Poem by Jake Staffeld

There are some things we like to assume

Like we're the only ones in love or hate

The only ones to have ever been hurt

That we've been hurt the worst

But these feelings are universal

It feels like you're all alone all the time

Just because no one can read your mind

But your surronded by life

Look up at the sky, look at the ground

And watch the people all around

You'll see your story over and over

It seems no one can help or associate

No one understands, you say

But you say this to those who really do

You may feel alone

But you're not

Nothing is completly individual

Every feeling is universal

Just look around for those who know

They might not be right there

But they probably are

Just let them in

They'll explain you're not alone

It's a feeling everyone has

And the truest sign

That everything is

Universal

Excellent poem.. I love the feeling of hope this poem gives.. and it is so true, we may not have all shared the exact some problems as someone else, but you can be sure that we've all shared something similar enough to be sympathetic and empathetic.
