Grounded

How I feel when I am trying to get ahead but I remain stuck in the same place.

Grounded
Sometimes I feel as if I could touch the sky
However, even I have to admit
That the stars are just beyond my fingertips
Why can't I fly
I know it is not logical
But to me, it seems illogical not to try
When I go to take off
Anxiety and Fear sets in
Doubts disrupt my ascension
Before I know it I know it I am back on the ground again
Why can't I fly
I know it is not logical
But to me, it seems illogical not to try
Maybe one day
Maybe...
For now I will stay grounded.

When we are but children our parents tell us that we can do anything, but as we get older it seems like other people try to bring us down. They say, "No, you can't be a writer. Do you know how hard it is to make it?" or "Do you really think you can become a model at 5'3"? It will never happen.", but to me it also seems illogical not to try because I believe in myself and I think there is a possibility for greatness. Sometimes I want to give up because the closer I get to the stars, the more out of reach they seem, but I will not give up. We will succeed.
