A Message

A Poem by James Wells

I think you should know that I love you
And it should be clear
For years to come that all my fears will wind up killing me.
So if the garden starts to wither,
And my patience burns out quicker.
Just know, I will always love you.

I think that you should understand.
My eyes have seen miles of sand in far off lands
And I've dreamed of showing them all to you.
So if you ever really wonder
Of how I discovered
That I will always love you,
The truth, is I've been here too long.
Trying to sing these silly songs.
Of time spent away in our numbered days
And I think it's really something
That you might think it's something
My dear, I will always love you.

The truth is that I know that I
Am not of a perfect, straight spine.
My bones rot and bend, when I think about the end.
So I'll up and hide my heart, before you even think to start
Searching and clawing to find what's left.

I'm alone and I'm alive, and that's perfectly fine.
The hope that I feel, has all but disappeared.
But I know that you'll care, so I know it's still there.
It's just hidden for a moment, while I think of what to do.
But nothing's changed, I will always love you.

I'm just looking to keep people entertained. It's important to me that I do as much as I can to give hope to the hopeless. We need it the most. But I also do say some comedic things occasionally, b.. more..
