Melting...

Melting...

A Poem by Jamestown
"

A Melting Heart...

"
Melting...

As an ice cube sets out in the heat of the sun,
it slowly but surely melts away into a puddle
and eventually evaporates,

My heart day in and day out is doing the exact
same thing, knowing that the love of my life is
experiencing the same melting effect because
we so much long to be with one another but for
whatever reason cannot find each other,

I want so much to be solid and in love
to have, hold, and cherish my soul mate,
but for now I feel as if I am that ice cube
slowly but surely melting away,

So I ask God to please put the beautiful sun away
for the evening, so I can bask in the moonlight and
wipe away the puddles that have formed from my
melting heart and crying eyes,

I pray that tomorrow will be the day that I am blessed
to meet my future wife and we can help one another
heal from the time we were apart but always dreamed
of being together,

Oh Lord please let tomorrow be that magical day,
father my heart is dripping, I'm melting away...

I really like the metaphor you used with ice cube and your heart. I think its an interesting concept. perhaps God wants you heart to completely melt before finding the woman he has chosen for you. I loved the line

Really great emotions and beautiful picture there. Reminds me of when i would sit outside and stare at the moon and wonder if my future husband was staring at it too. Lovely. Just lovey.

Wow, JT! This is really beautiful, I love the imagery! Your wording conjures emotion with such authenticity, that you can't help being enthralled and feeling a sense being a spectator of yourself slowly ceasing to exist...

Thank you for sharing!

Oh, what does an ice cube do to things around it? Cool... If ice were love, it would cool your wondering heart, keeping it where it needs to be close to the intended purpose. Nice poem Jamestown!

There's a great sense of openness in this piece that makes it so easy to read empathetically. I think it has a lot to do with the fact you don't use metaphor to veil your intentions. You state outright what the metaphor means and how you feel. Great work, keep it up!

And all the time God is good!I once wrote a poem of a lonely snowflake but you have presented your yearning for love as an ice cube but love is a burning amber within your heart and soul and as long as you are faithful to God He will bring her to you.Follow your calling of God first then everything will be added.I didn't meet my wife until I surrendered everything to God be patient God's time is not the same as ours

Your welcome Jamestown
the entire work is very good. the second to last stanza is just so beautiful! I love the thought of the two finally coming together as man and wife and begin healing the hurts of the past when the two were in search of one another.
"...but always dreamed of being together..." thank you for sharing this beautiful piece!

That was beautiful, Jamestown. Again, I find myself wanting to be the woman you're writing about so that I can stop your pain and enjoy your lovely words. I am so sorry if you really do feel like this, friend. I've been there before and even though I am young yet, I can still relate some to what is described in this piece. It can be very lonely and drags you down further every day you go without finding that one special someone. I absolutely love this side of you and your writing, Jamestown. Thank you so much for sharing this with me, I can't wait to read more like this!
