Moonlight Dancing

Moonlight Dancing

A Chapter by My Fair Lady
"

For Jessica

"

Three a.m.

Couldn’t sleep

Restless night

Summer heat

Creep out quietly

So no one should wake

Take a stroll

By the lake

No lantern to carry

No need tonight

Take the well worn path

Lit by moonlight

Senses heightened

Brilliance in the shadows

Walking softly as I go through

Floral fragrant meadow

In the distance

I cant help but see

A fairy girl dancing

How can this be?

Rub my eyes

Must be a dream

Pinch myself awake

Caught in a dream

Recognize the shadow

Smile spread across my face

My own lovely daughter

Dancing in the moonlight with beauty and grace

Walk a little more quickly

To greet her I go

Change my mind quickly

Step into the shadow

Knowing her heart is as beautiful

as her captivating figure.

Think about being her mother

And the joy I have had watching her mature.

Watch as she shamelessly dances

Decide to retreat

When out of the darkness

I saw him, her lover she did meet

Back to the house in quiet reflection

I silently tread

She’s no longer a little girl

A beautiful woman instead

gorgeous serving of the metarnal and child soul woven through each other~
what struck me most at the end is the respect of the maternal for the maturation of youth~ few know how to welcome and delight in the budding life of their own children~ this was refreshing and divinely crafted~

Nice.
I liked the mix of sentences and ... non-sentences. Strong description, I could picture it clearly.
Thought provoking in a not so complex way. A lot of mothers wouldn't be so silent. Mine, for instance...

My only problem is the font, which is mostly irrelevant. I just have a passionate dislike for Comic Sans. A little tidbit/suggestion regarding fonts, serif fonts (like Times, that have the little horizontal bits on the top and bottom) are specifically designed so that they can be read more smoothly and quickly. So for poetry, something like that might be more ideal. But some people prefer the look of a sans serif font, so it's your choice really.
