~ The Shadow Behind Me ~

~ The Shadow Behind Me ~

A Poem by S Jack JA
"

- I will hide behind the shadow no more -

"

As I walk through the dimly lit night's veil,

A haunting presence, silent and frail.

Whispering secrets only I can hear,

The shadow hides behind me, ever near.

It follows me with every step I take,

A shapeless form, my fear does awake.

A spectral figure, lurking in my eyes,

A dark companion, lingering close by.

But with a turn to face this shadowed foe,

There stands a reflection of my own soul,

A mirror image, a part of me... I KNOW!

A hidden truth that I could now control.

So let the shadow linger at my side,

For in its darkness, I find where I reside.

I think we all carry some level of darkness within us, which may be only the awareness and fear of death. The speaker here is right, though; we can control it to a great extent
