A Poem by Johnny A. Rojas
"

I was very young and a family friend that once lived with us killed himself

"

Why did you leave us?

what came in and filled your brain

if anything you seemed normal back then

all the laughing was it just a game

hiding true emotion

with a facet of shame

nothing can piece you back together

you went ahead and broke that shiny frame.

I would wonder why you left us

so many days in bed

i would tell my young brain

that you had jumped inside the train

and taking your shame to another place

into the blue sky and in other places

you were happier then by our side

why did you have to close that door

and slam into the train instead

what were you trying to accomplish

cause it was all in vain

our hearts never mended

and i can still feel the pain

Why did you leave us?

suicide is not the way

I always wonder how you structure your words so well.Johny you do say here that you are not trying to fall into any pattern, but this poem was very well conceived for me.
Suicide never does solve anything ,it simply leaves a trail of questions behind, which haunt the loved ones left behind.

I almost feel as if you don't need the last two lines here, because it's what you're saying all along. The rawness, the image of the train, the arrested life are rendered incredibly painfully up to the end. I especially like the way in which you depict how a kid thinks about this stuff, just the questions with no answers. I am sorry this happened to you. The sadness one feels over a suicide and the waste of a life is echoed and perhaps even exceeding for the suffering that continues beyond death for those that remain.
