[power connected] *crackling, static* --were saying-- what? You want me to what? Okay. Just… talk into it? “Tell my story--” geez. You make it sound like some superhero origin story. Well, I know it’s not. Yeah. Okay, okay, I get it. I’ll start. Geez. *deep breath* You want to know my story? I may as well start at the beginning.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I started out like everyone else. Nothing special, in a world of special people. At least, that’s what it seemed like when my classmates were being pulled out one by one, taken to institutions or organizations or special schools to train in their newfound powers. Powers were so common I was shunned for not having them. But unlike other “normal” people who longed for a chance to be special, who signed up for “genetic modifications” (powers that could be given to normal people) or built/bought/stole tech to accommodate for their lack of powers, I didn’t… well. I’m not going to say I didn’t want to be special, because for the longest time, I did. I’d look at all those other kids in envy, jealous of their abilities, their popularity, their options. But now… not so much. Because I came to realize that while some had a shot at glory, my future was cemented from the day I was born into a normal family, surrounded by normal people, in a world where normal is not the norm.

My name is Alisandra Daniella Erehart-Roschello, and I am an extra.

Or, I was.
