What's This

What's This

A Poem by Jeremiah Medina

Once upon a starry night
Cool breeze in the air
Danced around a fire bright
Not another soul was there
Something from some other world
Which it did not declare
Took a seat across from me
One couldn't help but stare
Slowly it did approach
As if it had no cares
Asked me if I had a beer
I said I had a spare
We didn't speak very much
But boy this thing was rare
Tall and thin and purple
With not a shred of hair
It didn't seem to pose a threat
It's demeanor was quite fair
Sipping on our brews together
As the fire sparked and flared
You'd think I would be terrified
Strangely I was calm not scared
He finished up his beverage
Was grateful I had shared
Gave his thanks then disappeared
Believe me if you dare.
