Ode to Thyf

Ode to Thyf

A Poem by A Synfull Argonaut

Oh God I am not worthy,
Of the gift that Thou hast given,
For it is such a journey,
From dim earth to the third heaven.

Rejoice, oh all ye his angels!
Rejoice, oh all ye his saints!
Like fair maidens told in fables,
God’s glory in her awaits.

Eyes of green ocean depths unseen,
Sweet as the summer air,
Skin white as snow such that it gleams,
Soft lavender silk hair,
Lips that console the heart, broken,
Tame arms that hug and hold,
Ears that hear my love unspoken,
Voice of the finest gold.

Rejoice, oh all ye his angels!
Rejoice, oh all ye his saints!
Like fair maidens told in fables,
God’s glory in her awaits.

Heart sweeter than the dews of rain,
Soul pleasant to adore,
Her love a cross, endures my pain,
Meek as an open door,
Sure hope unfeignèd ‘til the end,
Firm faith in what is taught,
Motherliness swift to defend,
Her tact cannot be bought.

Rejoice, oh all ye his angels!
Rejoice, oh all ye his saints!
Like fair maidens told in fables,
God’s glory in her awaits.

Oh God, I find Thy peace in her,
Pureness I desire,
Bright holiness to have with her,
Wholeness I aspire,
A fatherhood from her I seek,
A family to provide,
My sacrifice for her, God, keep,
Her always by my side.

Rejoice, oh all ye his angels!
Rejoice, oh all ye his saints!
Like fair maidens told in fables,
God’s glory in her awaits.

Oh God I am not worthy,
Of the gift that Thou hast given,
For it is such a journey,
From dim earth to the third heaven.
