In Love with a Man I've Never Met

In Love with a Man I've Never Met

A Poem by Jcbutterrtoast
"

Dedicated to all those who are willing to reach for the unreachable.

"

I'm in love

With a man I've never met.

A man,

And I'm nothing more than a

Boy.

Scratch that.

I'm nothing more than a poet

Who happens to be

In love with

A man.

Sculpted cheekbones and bronze skin,

Warm brown eyes that

Crinkle with high-

Pitched laughter.

If I were pathetic enough to wave

To him,

He would not see me.

Could not.

S**t, we're separated by miles of space

Where only I

Can

See

Him.

Hear him.

Care for him, and only him,

Forced by an unseen hand

To love someone so far out of

My reach.

And we only grow farther apart.

The worst part of it is that I

Don't want to stop,

Because if I don't love him,

Who will?

Not me.

My claim to him is tenuous, maybe

Even nonexistent,

But.

As long as I believe it's there,

Maybe, just maybe,

One day I'll reach him.

And then he'll smile at me,

And maybe we'll even talk.

I'd like that.
