Within the Pages

A Poem by Jed Sabffle
"

Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled, "This could change your life." ~Helen Exley

"

For I was once held captive

Bounded by life’s harsh realities

But escaped through book’s mighty magic

As I take a glimpse on its pages

Every word gushes through my soul

Wanders my mind into a limitless world

Where I can vanquish the impossible

Where time is just a number

Where Earth is just a wee matter

Driven into the auspices of fantasy

Swirled by varying chain of events

Bewitched by infallible touch of thoughts

Indeed, books are magical volumes

'Tis an exquisite mindsetter

And a rigorous life-changer...

This is inspired by Stephen King's quote,"Books are a uniquely portable magic."
I totally agree with that. :)
I made this just to reshuffle my thoughts.
Hope you'll like it! :D

Woah this is wicked! The two last stanzas are my favorite, you've done great with imagery and symbolism. Nicely done =)

For me this was inspirational. It just really spoke well for me. I mean it reads well. ^^* OMG I can't type at the moment, but this was good. And the fact you were inspired by the King himself was marvelous.

Wow...I don't always read books but anyway, I like this poem...
It was very creative and impressive...
I love how the simplicity of this piece made it even greater...
The words flowed very well in the poem though you didn't put a rhyme scheme on it and I must say that you really did a great job here!
Keep up the good work!

I agree with the words in the poem. A good book can steal your thoughts and take you to good places.
"Where I can vanquish the impossible
Where time is just a number
Where Earth is just a wee matter"
A strong ending to a outstanding poem.

This is exactly how I feel when I enter into the new world of a new book. The love is inevitable for me, I just love reading, it's an escape into a world isolated from reality, and once I start reading, it's so hard to stop. The beginning was flawless, I found myself instantly intrigued by those words, and well, then the truth just flowed. The good part about books is that they never really disappoint...and if they do, you can just put it down and pick up a new one. Also, great quote, totally intrinsic to the poem. Excellent job.
