Shadow

Shadow

A Poem by jenbem

If you must go,
leave me your shadow.
Fling it across my
naked skin
in an attempt to keep
my loneliness
from showing.
I will wrap myself around
my only image left of you

and try to warm my

chattering heart.

Great concept and it presents a wonderful image
I'm not sure the "Please don't go" at the end is needed,to me it feels almost contrary to the rest of the poem.
I enjoyed this.
Thank you

I really like this piece. Its something we all ask... that the person we love leave us something to cover our broken hearts with. I can relate. Very well written without too much mourning and just enough heartache... if that makes sense. I love it.

Very intriquing piece. I've never read lost love put like that, "Leave me your shadow." Very creative. I wish it was a couple stanzas longer, only because I'm curious about the depth of the relationship..etc. Very clean writing, no excessive angst. Just a good write. Rain..
