When Happiness Knocks

When Happiness Knocks

A Poem by Jen Marie

A new life

And a new job

To keep me busy

And away from my past

But the looks and stares

Of an Angel himself

Keep me on edge

And wondering why

Every girl pictures his face

In their dreams as they lay their heads

Each one secretly hopes

To be the one that walks hand and hand with him

Each girl is far more deserving

And more welcoming

To the smiles and nods

Of this proper prince charming

Even in the early mornings

Alone in the world with him

I find my doubts clouding my mind

Wondering if it’s okay to smile

It is only when he crosses

The rising waters of storms gone by

Do I feel his love carry me

Through all the worries that have kept my heart heavy

I forget all pain and anguish

For an instance as I realize

How happy one can become

When you allow goodness in
