Sisters

I wrote this many years ago for my twin as a Christmas gift

two girls

identical in features

they are twins

two souls

who shared a womb for nine months

sleeping, dreaming, hearts fluttering at the same time

brought into this world by loving parents

raised as individuals

 

they grow and learn together

relying on each other for everything

comfort and love in bad times

best friends and laughter in good times

 

siblings of a different kind

sharing a bond that most sisters don’t have

feeling the pain the other may feel

without ever having to say “I’m hurting”

 

agreeing with the others feelings

even if the feelings are incorrect

to never see you in a bad light

only to ever be looked upon with eyes of love

you are my twin

you are my sister

you are my confidant

you the fairest soul I know

to love me

to love us

to know no boundaries of the love I have for you

 

joined in our mother’s womb

joined in our thought

we are together

even if we are apart
