Love's Home

Love's Home

A Poem by Jennesis

Love's Home

It lives not in commercial holidays
Or expectations and pregnant gestures
It lives not in the artificial grandiosity of romance films
Or sappy jewelry advertisements

Love lives in the simple things...
In stolen mornings
And cups of coffee
In knowing glances
And downhill bike rides
It lives in sleepy caresses
And in the routine mundane
of every day life
Love lives in quiet whispers behind your ear
And in snuggling under a blanket on a  snowy night
It lives in choices and service
And fixing broken outlets, giggling at dumb jokes
Love lives by being present in the little moments of our lives

Love lives in the simple things...

In everything you've shared with us from your words in this one, Jenn, also, lives in me, remarkably so.
I could have written this one verbatim … well, not as beautifully, of course, but our essence is the same.
I think one might be surprised at how un-simple these little things are to most who simply don't know how to give them to another or express them adequately.
Even if they possess them, to find the one who can appreciate even these valuable and treasured "little things" may not happen, though they may feel them and want to … sad as it feels to contemplate.
When one meets another who does know and feels it, there can be magnetism that pulls them together in such a way they intuitively know it is right, and it's irresistible … gosh, this is a wonderful poem, Jenn! : )
It is beyond my simple words to express how much and in what way I appreciate what you've shared here from your lovely mind, heart, and soul … so beautifully rendered and voiced I can virtually feel the energy of your little things, and they feel just as perfect as the title.
Is this not what excellent poetry does; involves the reader, pulling them into the vivid moments of the writer's?
You've spoken truth, real truth … I understand.
Thank you for this, Jenn, you've sincerely inspired me! ⁓ Richard

(man, I got carried-away, but you did it … LOL!)

I had so hoped (and thought) you would, Jenn. : )
Yes, and thus the "simple things" become our world and hold infinity within the cream swirls dancing beneath the steam of our coffee talk...
Happy you are enjoying these gifts of love again! Yeah! :)

You are welcome:)
"Love lives by being present in the little moments of our lives" - couldn't agree more. Love doesn't live in pretentious gifts. It doesn't live in artificial grandiosity. It lives in simple things like hugs..dumb jokes etc.
A really good write :)

Oh thank you so much Gerry! I appreciate your kind words
This is such a gentle read. The simple occurrences that we take for granted in the moment, many times become our fondest memories later on. This is very sweet.

I was OK with the stolen moments than I got lost... Lol..Especially with that snuggling and touching... For the rest of the lovesick poets here they would love this and I do too but from an intellectual point of view and because I am a true fan.
