Powered by love

Obstacles rise up
Otherwise the path smooth
Gradual incline burns our lungs
Bright blue sky brilliant
Against the stark desert landscape
Ridges, dips and bumps
Tires floating over rocks
Designed for this ride

Outside of our control
Drop-offs appear
Yet we hang on, ride the downhill
Jump the bumps, hug the curves
Edging near the red stone canyon below

Freedom comes, wind in our hair
Pedals circle, we move forward
Powered by desire
Faith and spirit
Strength of body and mind
Loving within and outside of ourselves

I love how passionately you write about biking and incorporate it into your philosophies. It's beautiful to see passion demonstrated! :]

Some seem all the more "empowered" or ALIVE during the ride... and damn the consequences. Some need the thrill and others the thrall and some really haven't a clue of themselves nor anyone else.

Thank you for your kind words abd
the title throws me off. By the time I had completed this I saw a mountain bike attack of the canyon walls as you cheat death avoiding the a deep canyon fall. Now as a metaphor, excellent work. Well done.

Love of a lover or love of a ride in the beauty of the canyon.

Thank you Willard! Being out on the bike rings words for me. :)
Ha...the last line was a perfect hook for me.
Love is an engine within our lives. Why we ever turn its power off is beyond understanding.
Using your passion for mountain biking to fuel poetic expression is organic and powerful. You will always find inspiration within inspiration.
Thank you for sharing your insights.

A couple of, just a very few, seconds earlier, I've had a short walk across your very majestic & prolific page that's written or labeled under title: "Infinite Possibilities" .. I see very inspirational & motivational s***s (words) out there which got me hooked up with some tender visions of life that how "smooth" & "rough" it could if one's never "determined" to his destiny to reach his destination. And, here, in "Powered By Love", I find more extraordinary s***s (thoughts) which impacting the hearts with full race. Very nice & thoughtful you are seemed especially when you get down s***s down in words ... excellent! The thing that I love 'bout your poetry's the way you bleed, so simplistically in so captivating words. Ye - the freedom comes to those who get themselves in gear & paddle fast to feed the desire to win the love that's being parched for indulging excellence. Ah, so touching thoughts you painted 'pon words! Excellent!

love does give us strength ....it helps us climb over the obstacles, ride out the storms...
again, wonderful metaphor here...and not enough reviews...the philosophy in your poems is so wise.

Is there anything better, to quicken the pulse...to feel the sun and the wind through your hair? I felt your exhilaration, Jenn...it's quite a rush!

So true! I feel like a kid again. Thanks Kelly!
A great description of a great ride Jennesis and wonderful metaphorical writing.
I could feel the bumps and the anxiety rising as the drop offs appeared.
Very enjoyable jaunt.
Thanks for sharing
